(Chicago, IL) – Few artists have defined and redefined House music, such as Bear Who, aka Fuzzy Cufflinxx. He has been at the heart of Chicago’s legendary house music scene with a career spanning four decades, collaborating with industry giants like Duck Sauce, Todd Terry, Roy Davis Jr., Ed Banger, and Armand Van Helden.
But Bear Who? isn’t just a DJ—he’s an educator, mentor, and storyteller, using his platform to inspire the next generation. In October 2024, he released his debut book, Dreams of Being a DJ, under Edwin Rios, the first in a captivating series. Now, he returns with I CAN DJ ANYWHERE, set to release on March 21, 2025, celebrating the universal power of music.
Growing up on Chicago’s Northwest side, Rios fell in love with music with a passion. As a young music collector, he would come up listening to his favorite House and Hip Hop legends. His passion for the culture influenced him to pursue becoming a DJ and later a successful artist/producer in the dance industry. While making a name for himself and playing at some of Chicago’s popular clubs, Rios attained his bachelor’s and his M.B.A. in education. His work would land him as the dean at Roberto Clemente High School in the Humboldt Park community, where he worked with students from various backgrounds and cultures—many of whom shared similar backgrounds.
As a former Chicago Public Schools student growing up in a predominately Latino community, Rios often mentored young people from similar family backgrounds and understood the importance of being a positive example of pursuing his dreams.
This inspiring new book is a must-have for young readers, proving that DJs can bring people together anywhere—on a beach, in the mountains, or even in space!
Since returning, his visits have included Centro Romero Social Services on Chicago’s Northside; nonstop media interviews on Chicago podcast shows (Urban Grind TV, Latinos in da House, Flava, SnS Chicago) and local radio stations including WGPT, WVON and Soul 106.3 FM. Chicagoans could catch Bear Who? at The Silver Room and Wax Vinyl Bar for special book signings.
If you’re unable to catch him in your town, the books are available on Amazon.com .
